MANAWA, WI – Changing winter weather conditions have forced adjustments to this year’s Manawa Snodeo, but organizers say the event will still move forward with several planned activities.
Event organizer Debbie Sarna says recent warm temperatures and rain created challenges that led to the postponement of some Snodeo events.
“The Twin County Vintage Snowmobile Club Vintage Show will take place on Saturday as planned,” Sarna said.
This is the fourth time in the last five years that adjustments have had to be made to the schedule due to weather and conditions.
Sarna emphasized that ice thickness itself was not the issue, rather, the overall weather pattern and forecasted conditions made it difficult to safely hold all scheduled activities.
Because of those conditions, the remaining snowmobile ice races that were originally scheduled for this Saturday have now been moved to next Saturday.
Sarna says organizers remain optimistic about the adjusted schedule, though not every group will be able to participate. The Pro Vintage racing group will not attend this year, as many racers already have commitments at other events across the region.
Spectators who want to watch activities on Bear Lake should plan for a $10 viewing fee. Organizers say they appreciate the community’s understanding as they work to adapt the event to this year’s unpredictable winter conditions.
On February 28th, the events will include lake cross racing, radar runs, the pink ribbon rider swimsuit run, ice bike racing, off-road grudge racing and barrel racing.
“We will offer kids activities, ice skating, coloring contests, face painting and more.”
More updates are expected to be released.
“We are not done yet.”
