SHAWANO, WI- The Shawano Police Department, in cooperation with the Shawano Area Fire Department, continues to investigate a fatal house fire that occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on January 27, 2026, in the 600 block of South Union Street in Shawano.
The victim has been identified as 69-year-old Nancy F. Mross. Preliminary autopsy results indicate her cause of death was smoke and fume inhalation. A 66-year-old male was transported by the Shawano Ambulance Service to ThedaCare–Shawano for medical treatment.
The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to review additional findings. Authorities have determined the incident to be isolated and say all available evidence is being evaluated to ensure a thorough and accurate conclusion.
