CLINTONVILLE, WI – Clintonville School District Superintendent Troy Kuhn is working to clear up confusion in the community about the future of school athletics if the district’s referendum does not pass this spring. Kuhn says no decisions have been made to single out athletic programs, emphasizing that the district would consider all opportunities for staff and students if financial cuts become necessary.
He noted that survey feedback from residents showed strong concern about spending on large athletic facility upgrades, such as improvements to football and soccer fields. However, Kuhn stressed that the district’s focus right now is on transparency and making sure families understand what is actually being discussed.
District leaders, he said, are looking at the full picture, including academic options like dual credit courses and extracurricular opportunities, athletics included. Kuhn adds that clearer direction on athletics and other programs will come after voters decide the outcome of the referendum in April.
