NEW LONDON, WI – The New London Parks and Recreation Committee has approved an expansion of a local snowmobile trail, opening the door for improved connections for riders in the area.
The addition allows a trail operated by the Northport Snowriders Snowmobile Club to cross city-owned property along Spurr Road. Club leaders say the long-term goal is to connect the route to Uncle Luther’s Tavern and eventually link it with an existing state trail near Highway 54, creating a more continuous trail system.
City officials noted the land involved is currently listed for industrial development. However, they said alternate routes could be established if the property is sold in the future.
The trail will operate as a volunteer, non-funded club trail. Snowmobile trail signs are typically removed by mid-to-late April at the close of the season.
