CLINTONVILLE, WI – The Clintonville School District is continuing its efforts toward a proposed $1.95 million referendum after unanimous action by the School Board this week.
During Monday night’s meeting, Superintendent Troy Kuhn addressed concerns raised by the community, including the potential impact on athletics and student programs. Kuhn noted that repeated mentions of cutting all athletic programs have surfaced in public feedback, but emphasized that district leaders do not see eliminating athletics as the solution. “The word that keeps mentioning over and over again which troubles me is to cut all athletics. I don’t think anybody in this room is going to say we need to cut every athletic,” Kuhn said.
School Board President Glen Drew Lundt also spoke about the board’s responsibility as discussions move forward with residents. He stressed the importance of unity and accountability among board members. “If we can’t, as a board, at least give the impression that we can work together, we are wasting our time with the referendum. If I’m going to vote yes, I’m going to hold every one of us to a high standard, and that means we need to earn the trust of the people,” Lundt said.
Board members voted unanimously, 7–0, to continue the referendum process. In a second 7–0 vote, the board approved placing the referendum question on the ballot for Clintonville voters.
