Police in Shawano stayed busy over the weekend responding to a wide range of calls, including an accident involving an intoxicated driver, reports of assault, and a suspicious person complaint.
Early Sunday morning, officers assisted other law enforcement agencies following a traffic accident on County Trunk B. Police say a woman involved in the crash was intoxicated and transported by ambulance to ThedaCare for medical evaluation. She was not taken into custody at the time
Later in the morning, officers responded to Birch Hill Care Center for a reported assault. No additional details were released, but the incident remains under investigation
Police also responded to a disorderly conduct complaint on South Lincoln Street involving a domestic dispute, as well as a car-versus-mailbox crash on Alpine Drive that caused property damage but no reported injuries
Sunday night, officers investigated a suspicious person report at Oak Haven Nursing Home after a man wearing a ski mask and carrying a flashlight was seen walking through the parking lot. Officers did not locate anyone, but footprints were found leading northbound
The Clintonville Police Department stayed active throughout Sunday, January 18th, with officers focusing on patrols, traffic enforcement, and community safety.
Overnight and into the early morning hours, officers conducted extra patrols at Pickerel Point Playground, Picnic Point, and several residential streets, along with multiple business checks across the city, including locations on North Main Street, Bennett Street, Industrial Avenue, and East Third Street.
Police also carried out two traffic stops early Sunday morning near South Main Street and County Highway I. No major incidents were reported from those stops.
Just before 6 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on North Clinton Avenue, which was checked and cleared. Additional extra patrols followed on Anne Street, 20th Street, and South Madison Street.
Later in the morning, police investigated a harassment complaint on North Main Street, followed by more routine business checks on Commercial Avenue and West Madison Street.
The day concluded with officers responding to an ambulance call on Spring Street Sunday night.
It was a busy Sunday for the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, with deputies responding to 34 calls for service across the county.
Among the more serious incidents, an OWI arrest was reported just after 3 a.m. along Lake Drive in the Town of Wescott. Later in the morning, deputies also investigated a drug-related incident near County Trunk Z and Maple Road in the Town of Birnamwood. Both cases remain under investigation.
Deputies handled numerous traffic-related calls throughout the day, including multiple vehicles in ditches due to slippery conditions. Several non-reportable crashes were reported in the towns of Tigerton, Gresham, Pulaski, and the area near Red River Road and East Willow Road. A hit-and-run crash was reported in the City of Shawano, where the suspect vehicle reportedly fled the scene but may have been captured on camera.
There were also several disabled vehicles and traffic hazards, including a large carpet blocking eastbound Highway 29 near Tigerton, which prompted multiple calls from motorists.
Public safety calls included juvenile problems in Bonduel and Wittenberg, a welfare check requested by Shawano County Human Services, and several 911 hang-up or abandoned calls that were checked and cleared by deputies.
In the evening hours, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the Town of Wescott, where alcohol was reportedly involved. One individual was taken into custody. Later, a bail jumping incident was reported when a caller contacted authorities to report they were violating their own bond conditions.
The night wrapped up with a deer-vehicle crash on Highway 45 near Hummingbird Road, along with additional assistance calls before midnight.
