WAUPACA, WI – Attendees of Waupaca’s Winter Rec Fest can expect a new location and expanded activities this year. Parks and Recreation Director Laura Colbert says the event will be held at South Park instead of Swan Park.
Colbert said the move was made to take advantage of South Park’s additional amenities, including opportunities for ice fishing and ice skating if weather conditions cooperate. She noted the new location allows for more flexibility and a wider variety of winter activities for families and visitors.
Organizers are also expanding the lineup of events planned for this year’s festival. Colbert said attendees can look forward to hot chocolate, snowshoeing, and an illuminated story walk, designed to offer a unique winter experience for all ages.
In addition, the Parks and Recreation Department is planning a chili cook-off and is currently in discussions with local restaurants to participate. Colbert said the goal is to make the event both community-focused and interactive.
The Winter Rec Fest will take place on Valentine’s Day, from 3 to 6 p.m., at South Park in Waupaca. Organizers encourage residents to dress for the weather and come enjoy an afternoon of winter-themed fun.
