SHAWANO, WI – A summertime tradition is set to return to downtown Shawano, as Thursdays at Franklin comes back for another season of weekly community concerts and activities.
Shawano Parks and Recreation Director Matt Hendricks says the event has become a staple for local families and visitors, and residents can expect it to continue in the same familiar format.
“Thursdays has become a staple of the Shawano community,” Hendricks said. “You can expect it to be at the same time.”
According to Hendricks, the weekly concerts will once again run from June through August, bringing live music and a downtown gathering space back to Franklin Park each week.
While much of the tradition will stay the same, Hendricks says this summer will also bring fresh entertainment to the lineup, expanding the variety of music featured throughout the season.
Among the highlights is Kids From Wisconsin, a popular statewide show choir group, scheduled to perform July 2.
“If you’re familiar with that, they’re a very awesome statewide show choir,” Hendricks said.
Hendricks also says residents can look forward to a polka-variety group and even a Pink Floyd tribute band, aimed at offering something for a wider range of music fans.
The full performance schedule is expected to be released soon on the Shawano Parks and Recreation Department’s Facebook page.
