Shawano Police responded to a wide range of calls throughout Thursday, including disturbances, traffic issues, and multiple welfare checks across the city.
Officers were called just after midnight to a disturbance on Military Road, where a loud physical altercation was reported. Police remained on scene for more than an hour to restore order. Later in the morning, officers handled a traffic hazard involving a cattle trailer without lights near South Airport Drive and Highway 29.
Police also responded to an animal bite at a local medical clinic, a shoplifting incident at a retail store on East Green Bay Street, and reports of a stray dog brought into a church and school building. Additional calls included truancy cases, juvenile-related complaints, and a repossession on the city’s east side.
During the afternoon and evening, officers investigated property damage, assisted with medical and ambulance calls, and conducted several welfare checks, including a missing person report that was later resolved. Traffic crashes, vehicle lockouts, and road hazards—including a large pothole on East Green Bay Street were also addressed.
Clintonville Police stayed busy throughout the day Thursday responding to a variety of calls across the city.
Early morning activity included a disorderly incident on South Main Street just after 2 a.m., followed by an ordinance violation on Fifth Street and a repossession call later in the early hours. Officers also provided extra patrols near a school on 20th Street during the morning commute.
Several alarms were reported during the day, including an alarm call on South Main Street and a fire alarm on Harriet Street, both of which were checked by responding units. Police also handled a utility problem at the intersection of West 12th Street and North Clinton Avenue.
Additional calls included a suspicious activity report and a business check on South Main Street, a traffic stop near Reinke Road, and mutual aid assistance on West Main Street. The day concluded with an ambulance call on Brix Street Thursday evening.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled more than 40 calls for service across the county on Thursday, ranging from traffic issues and animal complaints to welfare checks and disorderly conduct.
Deputies responded to several animal-related incidents throughout the day, including reports of a cat bite in Shawano, deer in the roadway in multiple locations, and several sick or injured animals along county highways and rural roads. Drivers are reminded to remain alert, especially during early morning and evening hours when wildlife activity increases.
Traffic-related calls included multiple disabled vehicles along Highway 29 and Highway 47, as well as a property-damage crash near Highway 29 and County Trunk T. A report of reckless driving was also investigated Thursday evening in the Shawano area.
Deputies conducted welfare checks in Wittenberg and Shawano, and assisted with an open door call in the Navarino area during the early morning hours. Other calls included a recovered cell phone turned in to authorities, a vehicle lockout, and assistance to other law enforcement agencies.
Several 9-1-1 calls were reported during the afternoon and evening, including abandoned calls that were checked for safety. The day concluded with a disorderly conduct incident at a business in Gresham late Thursday night.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to report emergencies promptly and to use caution on area roadways, especially during winter driving conditions.
