Constance L. “Connie” Birkholz, age 85, passed away on Tuesday December 16, 2025, in Shawano. Connie was born on May 29, 1940, in Kaukauna to the late Charles R. and Mathilda (Cootway) Terrio. She attended high school in Bowler. Connie worked at Bonduel Inn, Northern Shoe Factory in Pulaski, Cecil Diner and Rollman Homes before retirement. On July 12, 1991, she was united in marriage to LaVerne C. “Vern” Birkholz at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. The couple spent a wonderful 24 years together prior to Vern’s passing in 2016. In Connie’s free time, she enjoyed crafting, fishing, camping, neighbor campfires, putting puzzles together, watching the birds and squirrels, bowling and spending time with family. She loved the Green Bay Packers, not the Vikings. Connie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano.
Connie is survived by her children, Peter (Lori) Hintz, Paul (Sue) Hintz and Mary (Ron) Laude; grandchildren, Jessica, Nathan, (adopted) Paul, Jennifer (Shane), Corey, Amy, Heidi (David), and Starr; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Terrio; and special friends, Scott and Debra Ludford. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Connie is preceded in death by her husband, Vern Birkholz; siblings, Bill Terrio, Carole Bierman, Judy Hermann and Norbert Martzahl; and parents, Charles and Mathilda.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday December 22, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with Pastor Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
