SHAWANO, WI – Construction on the new Shawano Rec Center continues to move forward, and Parks and Recreation Director Matt Hendricks says residents will start noticing major progress as they drive past East Division Street. “You’ll see what is pretty much the shell of the entire building, walls, ceilings, all up,” Hendricks said, noting that the project remains on schedule. He also confirmed the frequently asked question: the city is still aiming for construction to be completed around June.
Hendricks says the renovated facility will offer significantly expanded community space, creating new opportunities for local organizations. “Maybe you’re part of a nonprofit or a for-profit group that meets regularly and needs a meeting space, we’d love to house you there,” he said. Once construction wraps up, staff will take a few weeks to move in and prepare the building before officially welcoming the community into the new Rec Center.
