SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano County Library is gearing up for the launch of its new Community Read program in January, offering residents a flexible, yearlong opportunity to engage with four featured books. Committee member Kathy Pescinski says participants will have complete freedom in how they take part, noting that readers can choose to read all four books or only select titles. “We’re going to be having four different book discussions over the year,” Pescinski said, explaining that each quarter will focus on a new title and its themes.
This year’s selections include Night Magic, Soil, Better Living Through Birding, and The Last Fire Season. Pescinski emphasizes that the Community Read isn’t limited to the Shawano branch, every library location across the county is invited to participate and host programs of their own. In addition to in-person discussions, the library will also hold Facebook Live sessions throughout the year, allowing residents from all communities to join the conversation and share their insights.
The Community Read officially launches in January, with program details available at all Shawano County Library branches.
