Shawano Police handled a steady mix of calls throughout Thursday, beginning with a 911 misdial just after 8:30 a.m. at a business on South Main Street. Dispatchers confirmed the call was accidental and no emergency was found.
Around mid-morning, officers were sent to Shawano High School for a report of reckless driving in the parking lot. Police investigated, and no injuries or crashes were reported.
A short time later, officers responded to a welfare check on West Swan Street involving concerns about a person making alarming statements. Police were able to make contact, and the situation was handled safely.
Animal control also assisted with a call on South Hamlin Street, where a cat needed placement after its owner was admitted to a nursing facility.
Late morning brought another 911 hang-up, this time from inside the Shawano Walmart. Officers checked the store and determined there was no emergency.
In the afternoon, police mediated a civil dispute at a local shoe store regarding a return issue, and later assisted Shawano Municipal Utilities with a welfare check related to living-condition concerns.
Evening calls included a drug complaint at Shawano Middle School, a traffic hazard involving wood in the roadway, and a minor, non-reportable vehicle incident on South Weed Street.
The day concluded with officers responding to a 911 call from a patient at a local care center.

Several other disabled vehicle calls followed throughout the day, including breakdowns near Bonduel, Tigerton, and Bowler.
Late morning, deputies coordinated with organizers for the Mattoon holiday parade, set for Friday evening, ensuring proper law enforcement presence for the event. Around the same time, a snowmobile complaint was logged in the town of Bonduel.
Just before 2 p.m., officers responded to an assault report in Krakow. That call was quickly followed by a welfare check on Old Shawano Road and a civil standby in Mattoon involving a tenant moving out of a residence. Deputies later returned to the same address for a separate civil matter after the homeowner reported unknown individuals and vehicles at the property.
The afternoon brought more routine calls, including vehicle lockouts in Wittenberg and Shawano, as well as a report of a pedestrian walking along Highway 29. Deputies determined the situation was connected to a disabled vehicle.
Just after 5 p.m., officers handled another accidental 911 call and assisted a caller in Gresham. A short time later, deputies helped a motorist whose car broke down near the Bonduel exit.
Into the evening, officers assisted a recently released individual from the county jail seeking transportation and later investigated a reckless driving complaint on Highway 29.
There were additional calls for a traffic hazard in Birnamwood, an abandoned vehicle in Wittenberg, and a non-injury rollover crash east of Shawano. Just after 10 p.m., deputies assisted staff at a Bonduel care facility with an uncooperative resident.
The final call of the night involved a traffic stop resulting in an alcohol-related offense,
