SHAWANO, WI – The holiday season in Shawano officially kicks off tonight as the beloved Shawano Santa Parade makes its return to downtown. Shawano Downtown BID Coordinator Lindsay Johnson says the long-running tradition continues to bring joy to families year after year. “Thirty-one years, I think, of the Shawano Santa Parade, maybe it’s 32,” Johnson said. “It’s back for another joyful, spirit-filled year.”
The parade will step off at 6 p.m. near Charlie’s County Market, filling Main Street with bright lights, festive music, and holiday magic as floats and marching units make their way through the heart of the city. With hundreds of spectators expected to line the streets, Johnson is reminding both participants and visitors to plan ahead.
Staging for parade floats opens at 4:30 p.m. on Elizabeth Street, with entry from Lincoln Street on the east side. Johnson also notes that Main Street will close early to allow time for staging and safety preparations, and encourages families to arrive ahead of time to enjoy the atmosphere downtown.
The Shawano Santa Parade remains one of the community’s most cherished holiday traditions, drawing residents and visitors together for an unforgettable night of Christmas spirit.
