BONDUEL, WI – A cherished holiday tradition is returning to Bonduel this weekend as St. Paul Lutheran Church prepares to host its annual live nativity scene. Organizer Jim Meyer says the event is just one highlight of a full day of Celebrate Bonduel Christmas activities happening throughout the community. The walkthrough nativity runs Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. in the wooded area behind the church, offering families a meaningful way to experience the story of Jesus’s birth.
Pastor Ryan Fehrmann says the roots of live nativity scenes run deep, noting that the practice predates the decorative sets many people display today. “If you have a nativity set in your home or maybe at your church, it was not a nativity set that inspired live nativities. It was live nativities that inspired the sets,” Fehrmann explained.
Along with narrated scenes and live animals, visitors can take part in a candlelight gathering featuring “Silent Night” and “O Holy Night.” Free hot chocolate and cookies will also be available for families who attend.
