Berlin 57, Waupaca 47
Berlin used a big second half to pull away from Waupaca for a 57–47 season-opening win. The Comets came out hot, dropping 29 points in the first half to take a slim 29–27 lead into the break. Out of halftime, the Indians tightened up defensively and flipped the script with a 30–18 scoring edge over the final 18 minutes. Senior workhorse Hayden Redington powered Berlin with 18 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists, dominating the paint and the glass. Blake Metoxen added 14 points on four threes, and Carter Hess chipped in 10 points and 9 boards as Berlin protected its home floor.
Oconto Falls 76, Menominee Nation 65
Oconto Falls opened its season with an offensive burst, outlasting Menominee Nation 76–65 at home. The Panthers set the tone early with 40 first-half points and carried a 5-point lead into the break, then kept the Eagles at arm’s length with a 36-point second half. Senior Brady Bursa was nearly automatic from the field, pouring in 25 points on 12-of-13 shooting while adding 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in a do-it-all performance. Jameson Beaman backed him up with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, and JJ Pytleski added 16 points and 7 boards to give Oconto Falls a strong three-headed attack. Menominee Nation put up 35 before halftime and 65 overall but couldn’t get enough stops down the stretch as the Panthers protected their home floor.
