Shawano Police responded to a number of calls Wednesday, beginning overnight with a disturbance at an apartment on East Richmond Street around 1:30 a.m. A woman reported a man refusing to leave. Officers say the man left before they arrived, but they continued to check the area. Police were called back to the same apartment later in the morning after reports of a physical altercation. Officers spoke with the parties involved and the situation was brought under control.
Just after 3:30 a.m., officers and EMS were sent to Channel Trace for a death investigation involving an 86-year-old man who collapsed and was unresponsive. Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, and the case remains under active investigation.
Traffic issues were also part of Wednesday’s calls. A report of reckless driving on Highway 22 and 29 led officers to search for a red Kia seen crossing the center line. Later in the day, another reckless driving report came from the Hardee’s area on East Green Bay Street, involving multiple agencies and EMS, though no injuries were reported.
Police also handled several quality-of-life calls, including a stray dog reported near Franklin Park, a possible theft on East Zingler Avenue involving missing medication, and found property — a debit card turned in at City Hall.
One of the more serious calls came just after noon: an anonymous caller reported two toddlers riding tricycles in the middle of South River Street wearing only diapers, with no adults in sight. Officers quickly located the children and ensured they were safe.
The evening wrapped with a trespassing complaint on East 5th Street, where the caller reported someone in their basement. Multiple officers responded and resolved the situation.
And early this morning, officers checked on a woman sitting in the median of Highway 29 near Banner Road, shining a flashlight. She did not appear distressed but was contacted for safety.
Clintonville officers began the day with several early business checks, Around 6:30 a.m., police conducted extra patrols on both 20th Street and Anne Street as students headed to school. Additional school patrols continued throughout the morning, including on West Green Tree Road.
Just after 9 a.m., officers handled a paper service on 5th Street. Later in the morning, around 10:20, police responded to a report of a juvenile runaway on 20th Street.
Before noon, officers enforced parking violations on 16th Street, and at 12:02 p.m., they executed a search warrant on West 13th Street.
During the afternoon, more school safety patrols were conducted, and at 4:46 p.m., officers assisted EMS with an ambulance call on West Morning Glory Drive.
Early evening calls included an open door discovered at a business on North Main Street, and an animal complaint on 9th Street. Officers also took part in a community engagement event on West Green Tree Road.
Later, police handled a traffic issue on East Morning Glory Drive, a suspicious activity call on Maize Street around 9:20 p.m., and finally a stray animal report on Robert Street just before 10 p.m.
Shawano County deputies started the day just after Midnight with an OWI arrest on Highway 29 near Campground Road. According to the report, a 45-year-old Antigo woman was stopped after her SUV was seen traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes. Deputies took her into custody without injury.
Deputies handled a transport from the county work-release center after an inmate reported chest pains. He was cleared and later released.
A short time later, deputies responded to three cows in the roadway near Winkle Road north of Leopolis. The animals were safely returned to their property.
Around 2:30 a.m. a dead deer in the roadway created a traffic hazard on Highway 45 near Birnamwood. Crews cleared the lanes.
Deputies also handled several 911 hang-ups overnight, including calls near Birnamwood and later near Pulaski. All were resolved without emergency.
By mid-morning, deputies responded to multiple warrant pickups, including subjects wanted out of Outagamie and Calumet counties.
Just before 9:30 a.m., a Bowler resident reported a vicious dog complaint on Murphys Road after his dog was attacked by a neighbor’s pet. That case remains active.
Deputies assisted after a farmer was reported to have spilled liquid manure across the roadway, prompting a cleanup request.
Afternoon calls included a vehicle lockout in Krakow, a weapons complaint on Rolling Hills Drive after someone reported hearing what sounded like 30 rifle shots, later determined to be bow-and-arrow target practice, and a controlled brush burn near Old 47 Road that generated heavy smoke.
Evening calls included a noise complaint in Krakow, and deputies also assisted a Shawano resident who believed someone was in his basement—no suspect was found.
From Stockbridge-Munsee Police: officers handled two animal-related calls, including a report of a dog attack in Bowler and a separate incident where a vehicle struck a turkey. Later, a driver in Gresham reported hitting a deer and requested officers to dispatch the injured animal.
