Shawano Police had a busy Sunday, responding to a series of calls ranging from a dangerous weapons complaint to several disturbances and welfare checks across the city.
The most serious incident came early Sunday morning, just after 3 a.m., when officers were dispatched to South Smalley Street for a reported weapons offense. A caller said a man was chasing a woman with a knife. Multiple officers responded, arriving within minutes. The situation was handled without further reported injuries, and the investigation remains active.
Later in the morning, police were called to South Franklin Street for a general assist after RapidSOS data indicated a possible emergency. Shortly after that, officers responded to West Richmond and South Smalley for a reported disturbance, though details on the nature of the incident were limited.
Just before 10:30 a.m., an unusual call came from South Bartlett Street, where a homeowner reported her house had been egged overnight. She told officers she suspected her daughter’s ex-boyfriend, who had been at the home shortly before the incident
Police also assisted a woman at Walmart who believed she had lost her wallet in a shopping cart. Officers met her at the store to review surveillance footage.
In the afternoon, Animal Control was notified of a stray German shepherd found on South Main Street near the Stock Market store. The dog had a collar but no tag, and officers were able to secure it safely.
Later in the evening, police responded to Birch Hill Care Center for a report of possible elderly neglect, followed by a call at Performance Foods reporting a reckless driver who struck another vehicle before fleeing. Officers are continuing their investigation.
Clintonville Police handled a steady mix of calls throughout day yesterday. The early morning hours were dominated by business checks, with officers patrolling locations along South Main, North Main, 4th Street, and West Street. Around 1:30 a.m., officers also responded to an open door at a business on West Madison Street, ensuring the property was secure.
Just before 9:45 a.m., police handled a stray animal on South Main Street, followed by an extra patrol request at Picnic Point. Late morning, officers assisted an ambulance call on 19th Street before conducting a follow-up investigation on 10th Street.
The afternoon brought an animal complaint on 9th Street, and just before 6 p.m., officers responded to a threatening complaint, also on 10th Street.
At 6:46 p.m., police arrested a driver for OWI on Pansy Circle. Later in the evening, officers conducted a traffic stop at South Main and 5th Street, closing out the day.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled nearly thirty calls for service on Sunday. Deputies were first called just after midnight to Camp 14 Road and Murphys Road, where a driver reported a disabled Chevy Tahoe with a flat tire. A short time later deputies attempted to stop an ATV on MBC Drive near County Trunk MMM, but the rider fled northbound. The pursuit was cleared a few minutes later.
At Coachlight Bar on Lake Drive, deputies responded to a welfare check after a report that a bartender had been drinking. No major issues were noted.
A more serious call came around 3 a.m. When a weapons-related complaint was reported on South Smalley Street in Shawano, involving the caller. Deputies investigated, and the case remained active as of the report.
Multiple welfare checks were logged throughout the morning, including one in Tigerton for a resident whose family hadn’t heard from him since the previous day.
Traffic incidents continued to stack up—several deer crashes were reported across the county, along with traffic hazards on Highway 29, including a dead deer causing lane issues early Sunday.
Deputies also handled illegal burning on Wolf River Road near Poplar Road, where a caller reported a large fire producing black smoke.
In the afternoon, a vicious-animal complaint was taken in Cecil after a dog was attacked by another dog, and deputies later responded to a trespassing complaint on Bierman Road near Bowler.
By evening, the sheriff’s office assisted jail staff during an inmate extraction and later responded to additional animal-related crashes, including a disabled vehicle after a raccoon strike on Highway 29.
The day wrapped up just before midnight with another disabled vehicle—this time a Chevy Suburban—near Upper Red Lake Road.
