Shawano police responded to a series of varied incidents throughout the day on Thursday, beginning early in the morning with a bicycle complaint on South Main Street. A resident reported a pink and white bike was left in a parking lot overnight.
A few hours later, officers were called to East Maurer Street for a domestic disturbance just before 4 a.m. Multiple units and EMS responded. One individual was taken into custody, and the situation was brought under control without further injuries.
Around 4:30 a.m., police handled a separate disturbance on West Division Street. That call also resulted in an arrest as officers worked to resolve an ongoing dispute at the residence.
Shortly after 10:30 a.m., officers made a warrant pickup near Waukechon and Richmond Streets, taking a wanted individual into custody.
Just before noon, police assisted a driver at the Aldi parking lot after receiving a vehicle lockout call involving a Jeep Cherokee.
In the afternoon, officers completed a death notification on behalf of Mesa Police in Arizona, delivering the message to a local family member.
Traffic issues also kept police busy. Officers responded to two separate reckless-driving complaints—one on Highway 29 near County K, and another later in the evening at East Green Bay and Waukechon Streets. No injuries were reported in either case.
And just after 3:25 p.m., police were sent to investigate a 911 call involving children on the line, with one child briefly mentioning someone was “going to kill…” before the call cut out. Officers located the source and determined there was no threat.
Finally, officers checked out a suspicious vehicle report on South Sawyer Street around 8 p.m., clearing the scene after investigation.
Clintonville Police handled a steady lineup of calls on Thursday, beginning just before 4 a.m. with an ambulance response on South Main Street. No details on injuries were released.
Around 4:20 a.m., officers documented a vehicle repossession on Glendale Court, followed by a welfare check on West Madison Street a little after 6:30. Police confirmed the individual was safe.
Just after 7 a.m., officers completed a paper service on West Street, and a short time later provided extra patrols at a local school on South Clinton Avenue.
A traffic stop at 7th and Auto Street came in just after 10 a.m., and before noon the department responded to property damage reported on Park Lane. They also assisted with an escort on 7th Street around 12:06.
In the afternoon, officers were called to W. Morning Glory Drive for an animal problem, followed at 5 p.m. by a lockout on Spring Street.
Police also provided mutual aid on North Grand Avenue around the same time.
The evening wrapped with a traffic stop at North 12th and 18th Streets at 6:42, and another vehicle lockout on East 14th Street just minutes later.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office logged a busy Thursday with more than three dozen calls across the county, ranging from traffic issues to domestic disturbances.
The day began shortly after midnight with a noise complaint near Highways 22 and 117. Not long after, deputies responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Campground Road, after the driver reported falling asleep on the way home from work. No injuries were reported.
Around 1:45 a.m., deputies investigated a trespassing complaint on Lodge Road in Cecil, and by 4:30 a.m. they were handling a disturbance on West Division Street in Shawano.
Several early-morning calls involved animals, including a deer struck near Lake Sandia, which needed to be dispatched, and a loose cow reported near County BE and Lime Kiln Road. Deputies also assisted Gresham Fire with a fire call on Geider Road.
A significant incident occurred before 8 a.m. in Birnamwood, when a student was bitten by a dog while walking to a bus stop. The injury was minor and not bleeding; deputies documented the incident.
Traffic issues picked up mid-morning, with multiple reckless-driving complaints, a downed stop sign hit by a vehicle on Regina Road, and a traffic hazard on Highway 29.
Around 11:30, deputies investigated a report of attempted break-ins at a home on Lower Lake Road, where someone had reportedly tried prying open a back door twice during the week.
The afternoon brought more reckless-driving reports, including a maroon Chevy Silverado passing a stopped school bus in Wittenberg, and an additional reckless-driving complaint near Highway 29.
Just after 4:30 p.m., deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on West Railroad Street in Bowler. Later, more calls came in for disabled vehicles, welfare checks, and multiple deer in traffic, common during this time of year.
In the evening, deputies looked into suspicious activity on Valley Road in Cecil, and around 8:45 p.m., casino security at Ho-Chunk Casino reported a possible drug transaction in the parking lot involving a black Jetta.
The final call of the night came after 10 p.m., when a caller requested help after his dog was attacked by a coyote
