This year’s data shows that 94 percent of public school districts met, exceeded, or significantly exceeded expectations under the updated accountability system. Most local school districts are meeting or exceeding expectations in the latest state report cards from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
In Shawano County, districts averaged a score of 67.8. Pulaski Community and Bonduel led the way, both earning ratings of Exceeds Expectations. Shawano, Wittenberg-Birnamwood, and several others met expectations overall.
Oconto County averaged 64.8, with Oconto Falls and Pulaski among the top performers. However, Oconto, Gillett, and Suring were rated as Meets Few Expectations, showing areas for improvement.
Waupaca County posted the strongest regional results, averaging nearly 70 points. Iola-Scandinavia, Weyauwega-Fremont, and New London all earned Exceeds Expectations.
The changes come after a group of 26 education leaders voted overwhelmingly to adopt new performance standards, making this year’s scores the start of a new era for school accountability. Officials say the updated benchmarks will better reflect student growth, achievement, and graduation readiness across Wisconsin schools.
