Shawano County Collects Nearly 300 Pounds of Medications Since Spring

SHAWANO COUNTY, WI – The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office says local residents once again stepped up to make this year’s Drug Take Back efforts a success.
Sheriff George Lenzner says that since spring, 285.9 pounds of prescription medications have been collected across the county. “Shawano County continues to rank among the top five counties in Wisconsin for the amount of medications turned in”, Lenzner said.
Lenzner says the department also partnered with surrounding communities, including Ho-Chunk and the Stockbridge-Munsee Public Safety Building, to expand collection opportunities.
He adds that the effort continues year-round with a 24/7 medication drop box available in the front lobby of the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, allowing residents to safely dispose of unused prescriptions or over-the-counter medications at any time.
