Shawano Police officers handled a busy day of calls, including several shoplifting incidents, welfare checks, and traffic hazards across the city.
Police were called to Smalley Park around 1 a.m. for a park violation and later stopped a driver near South Andrews and East Maurer Street for operating after revocation. That driver was also taken into custody for bail jumping.
Around 6:30 a.m., crews responded to County Highway B and South Airport Drive, where broken glass was scattered across the roadway. Public Works helped clear the scene.
Officers investigated two separate shoplifting cases — one at Qualheim’s True Value and another at Charlie’s County Market. In both cases, suspects were identified, and video evidence was collected.
Police also handled several truancy complaints from Shawano Community High School throughout the morning, along with a trespassing call on South Washington Street.
In the afternoon, a woman on Picnic Street called police after a food delivery was dropped off at the wrong house, leading to a minor dispute. Officers later responded to a group of teens throwing rocks near South Main Street, and to an ATV complaint where several off-road vehicles were seen blocking traffic on South Bartlett Street.
One man was arrested on felony warrants during the evening on East Maurer Street, and officers assisted a homeless individual getting shelter at SAM25 late that night.
Clintonville officers responded to more than twenty calls for service throughout the day.
The department handled several business checks and extra patrols overnight, including stops along County Highway I, Commercial Avenue, and the Pigeon Lake boat launch area.
During the morning hours, police conducted school patrols on West Green Tree Road and served court papers on Hughes Street.
Later, officers made several traffic stops on South Main and 7th Streets, and responded to a 911 call from the downtown area.
A trespassing complaint was logged on 5th Street, and ordinance violations were addressed along Robert Street.
Police also investigated a theft on West Morning Glory Drive, assisted with a vehicle lockout on North Main Street, and served a warrant on West Second Street.
The day ended with officers and medics responding to an ambulance call on McKinley Avenue late Wednesday night.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled 34 calls for service yesterday. Deputies responded to a lewd and lascivious behavior complaint in Leopolis after a Meals on Wheels driver was reportedly caught on video urinating inside a garage while delivering food to an elderly woman. The incident remains under investigation.
Elsewhere, a motorcycle crash was reported on County Highway N in the Town of Almon. The rider declined medical transport but suffered a possible leg injury.
Fire crews were called to a vehicle fire on County Highway U near Shawano around 4 p.m. No injuries were reported.
A welfare check was conducted on County M near Clover Lane after a passerby spotted two women walking along the highway in the dark. Deputies made contact and determined there was no immediate danger.
Other calls included multiple animal complaints, a traffic hazard involving a dead animal on Highway 22, and a property damage report where a vehicle struck a mailbox overnight.
Deputies also picked up a suspect on an outstanding warrant at River Heights Pawn in Shawano and assisted other law enforcement agencies in a felony warrant arrest later that evening.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds drivers to watch for deer and slow down for roadside hazards during the evening commute.
