NEW LONDON, WI – A duplex in New London may be a total loss after a garage fire broke out Monday afternoon. Firefighters were called just after 3 p.m. to the 600 block of Pine Street, where flames were reported between two units.
When crews arrived, the garage roof had already collapsed onto a burning vehicle, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the rest of the building.
Officials say there is extensive smoke damage throughout the duplex. No one was injured, and while three cats made it out safely, crews continued searching for a fourth.
