Shawano police responded to a busy list of calls Wednesday — including a domestic disturbance, a fraud report, and several welfare checks around the city.
Officers were called to a home on South Andrews Street around 1:40 in the morning for a domestic disturbance. Three officers responded, and one person was taken into custody following the incident.
Later that morning, police assisted ambulance crews on West Richmond Street after a medical call just after 6:30. Around 8 a.m., officers investigated suspicious activity near storage sheds on East Division Street — a caller reported people barricaded inside units who weren’t supposed to be there.
In other activity, police handled a fraud complaint filed by a Shawano resident, assisted with multiple welfare checks requested by schools and human services, and responded to a call about threatening text messages involving a firearm.
Officers also helped a resident who locked herself out of her home on East Center Street — she eventually made it back inside through a window.
Later in the evening, police were called to South Main Street for a report of a cut dog tether — the owner suspected it may have been connected to a restraining order situation. And just before 10:30 p.m., officers checked out a possible car crash along County Highway B.
Clintonville police responded to a variety of calls. Officers made several overnight business checks along South Main, Seventh, and South Clinton Avenue, keeping an eye on local storefronts.
Around 12:30 a.m., officers handled a mental health situation on Waupaca Street, and just after 3:30, assisted ambulance crews on North Main Street.
Later in the morning, police helped with a disabled vehicle on McKinley Avenue and conducted extra patrols on Anne and 20th Streets. A suspicious activity call came in from Robert Street around nine-thirty.
Officers issued a parking enforcement notice near East 14th and North Main around noon, and assisted Waupaca County deputies with a mutual aid call on Highway 156 and Pearl Flats Lane later in the day.
Evening activity included a traffic stop on South Main and Reinke Road, a domestic disturbance on 18th Street, and an alarm call downtown. The day wrapped up with a harassment complaint on South Clinton Avenue just before midnight.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled more than two dozen calls Wednesday — including medical assists, welfare checks, traffic crashes, and a few disturbances.
Deputies first responded around five a.m. to Bartelt Boulevard in Shawano for a medical emergency. Just after sunrise, fire crews were called to Sunset Drive in Gresham for a report of a gas smell in a garage — the scene was cleared without incident.
Later in the morning, officers investigated a non-reportable traffic crash near County Roads D and N in Bowler, and an abandoned vehicle found in the Kwik Trip parking lot along the Express Way in Bonduel. Deputies also conducted several welfare checks — including one in Wittenberg involving a family living out of their vehicle.
Around midday, human services requested deputies for a disturbance at the county building on Anderson Avenue, after a man previously trespassed returned and caused a scene over firearm rights. Deputies also investigated a reckless driving complaint on Highway 29 near County C and handled a traffic violation after a driver failed to stop for a Wittenberg school bus.
The afternoon brought calls about a suspicious vehicle in Shawano, animal complaints, and a couple of 911 hang-ups that turned out to be accidental.
Later in the evening, deputies looked for a wanted man on a county warrant, responded to another disturbance on Evergreen Road, and investigated two property-damage crashes, including one along County Highway BE.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department also logged a handful of calls — including reckless driving, a school liaison detail, and a counterfeit cash report from a Bowler resident.
