Shawano Police responded to a variety of calls Tuesday Just before 5 a.m., officers were called to North Main Street and West Third Street for a disturbance. Police say nothing physical occurred, and the woman involved was not in danger but wanted the man to leave her alone.
Around 6 a.m., a theft was reported on East Richmond Street, where a man allegedly took a chainsaw that belonged to his late father. Officers are investigating the dispute.
Later that morning, police helped with two separate juvenile issues — one at Shawano High School and another at the middle school — and assisted probation and parole agents in arresting a man with prior battery convictions.
Around noon, a salon worker on South Main Street reported a troubling encounter with a homeless man who followed a client inside and made disturbing comments. Officers were able to locate and identify the suspect.
In the afternoon, police checked on a resident at Madison Way after the post office raised concerns about their welfare and later responded to a missing person and ATV complaint near McDonald’s on East Green Bay Street.
That evening, officers handled a welfare check at the Haven Hotel involving possible drug activity and responded to reports of a stray dog digging through garbage on South Prospect Street.
Overnight, police were called to a domestic disturbance on South Andrews Street just after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Clintonville Police handled a steady number of routine calls throughout the day Tuesday.
Officers conducted several early-morning business checks on Main Street and Green Tree Road to ensure buildings were secure. They also provided extra patrols on 20th Street around 6 a.m.
Later in the morning, police and ambulance crews responded to a 911 call on West 14th Street. Another ambulance run was made in the afternoon to West Green Tree Road.
Officers were called to handle two disorderly conduct incidents, one on Waupaca Street and another on Wilson Street, along with an animal problem on 7th Street.
Police also investigated reports of a suspicious vehicle, one on Cedar Street and another later that evening near Picnic Point.
A welfare check was conducted on South Main Street, and an open door was found on 7th Street but no issues were reported.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled a busy Tuesday, responding to a mix of medical, traffic, and animal-related calls across the county.
Deputies were called to the county jail early in the morning after an inmate reported chest pain and was taken for medical evaluation. A short time later, a Leopolis resident reported suspicious noises outside her home — she told dispatchers someone had banged on her window, a concern tied to a past break-in.
Around three o’clock, a vehicle went into a ditch on Strauss Road near Raguse Road. The driver wasn’t hurt, but deputies checked to ensure no impairment was involved.
Deputies also handled several 911 hang-up calls and assisted with disturbances, including one in Clintonville early Tuesday morning. Throughout the day, officers investigated multiple traffic incidents — several involving deer collisions on Highways 47, 29, and 22 — as drivers continue to face increased deer activity this fall.
There were also reports of reckless driving on Highway 29, a trespassing complaint in Black Creek, and a shoplifting case under investigation at the Kwik Trip in Bonduel.
Animal calls kept deputies busy into the night, including several injured deer that had to be put down for safety reasons.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Police also handled a fraud complaint in Gresham — a caller claiming someone tried to collect fake car payments on a vehicle the resident doesn’t even own.
