NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – As cooler temperatures settle into Northeast Wisconsin, hunters are gearing up for what’s expected to be an excellent stretch of fall hunting. Wildlife Biologist Jackie Christopher with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says the recent cool down is exactly what hunters have been waiting for.
“Hopefully with this cool down, we’ll be able to see not only that it’s more conducive for hunters to go out and be sitting, but also the deer will be moving around a little differently as well,” Christopher said.
She adds that the drop in temperature should create prime hunting conditions, with deer activity increasing throughout the day. And this year, hunters will have even more time in the field, as several seasons have been extended well beyond Thanksgiving.
Christopher says the antlerless-only holiday hunt will return between Christmas and New Year’s, along with an extended archery season, giving sportsmen and women more chances to enjoy Wisconsin’s great outdoors. The DNR reminds hunters to stay safe, know their zones, and wear blaze orange or pink to remain visible throughout the season.
