CLINTONVILLE, WI – As the Clintonville School District moves closer to a potential April referendum, Superintendent Troy Kuhn says transparency and community engagement are at the center of the district’s approach.
Kuhn explained that the proposed measure would not involve new state funds but rather a reallocation of existing dollars, a process that requires local voter approval. “We’re taking the state money and just moving it from one bucket to a different bucket, but we need local approval to do that,” Kuhn said, emphasizing the importance of resident input in shaping district priorities.
With deadlines approaching, Kuhn noted that timing is critical. “If we wait until November, it’s with the understanding that we’re going to have to go into a deficit one more year, in light that we’re going to come out way ahead the third year,” he said, stressing the need to act soon to keep the district on track.
Community surveys will be mailed to every household in the Clintonville School District in the coming weeks. The survey will help inform residents about the proposal and gather feedback on key initiatives, including funding for a police liaison officer, child care programs, and other community-focused efforts, before a final decision is made on whether to move forward with the referendum.
