SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents that Safe Haven continues to play a critical role in helping victims of domestic violence long after the initial call for help. The organization provides shelter, advocacy, education, and prevention services to survivors of both domestic violence and sexual assault.
Trina Siebold, program supervisor at Safe Haven, says several awareness activities are planned throughout October as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. One of the efforts, the Purple Porch Project, invites community members to decorate their porches with purple lights or ribbons to show support for survivors.
“So far, we have 33 participants,” Siebold said. “If you’re still interested, you can reach out to Safe Haven, we’d be more than happy to spread awareness further and have you join.”
Community members are encouraged to visit Safe Haven’s website to learn more about ongoing events and ways to get involved in supporting victims and raising awareness across Shawano County.
