The Shawano Police Department had a busy Tuesday Just after 1 a.m., officers checked out a suspicious vehicle reported parked for nearly an hour on West Picnic Street with people inside. A short time later, another resident on South Lafayette Street reported strange noises at her door, fearing someone was trying to break in. Both situations were investigated and resolved without incident.
Later in the morning, police were called to Woodlawn Cemetery where staff reported a military plaque had been stolen from a gravesite. Around the same time, officers responded to Old Lake Road for a reported drug-related offense, and a reckless driving complaint came in from Shawano High School.
Animal complaints also kept officers busy — including a call about too many chickens at a residence on Ridlington Avenue.
In the afternoon, multiple thefts were reported, one at Burger King on East Green Bay Street and another at Martin Jewelers on South Main, where a gold ring had been taken. Police say video footage captured the suspect in the jewelry theft.
Other calls included a T-bone crash at Evergreen and Elizabeth Street, welfare checks for at-risk individuals, trespassing reports, and assistance to fire crews for an alarm at a downtown business.
The day wrapped up with a missing person case on Cleveland Street, where family reported a man had not returned home from work. Police coordinated with De Pere authorities as part of the search.
Clintonville Police handled a steady mix of calls yesterday. The day began with a traffic stop shortly after midnight on South Main Street. Just before 1 a.m., officers investigated a suspicious situation, also on Main Street. Several extra patrols were carried out overnight, including at Picnic Point, Pickerel Point Playground, and later at Memorial Circle.
In the morning, police provided extra patrols near schools on West Green Tree Road, but were later called to East Morning Glory Drive for a report of criminal mischief. Officers also responded to a theft on Green Tree Road and handled an ambulance call on Garfield Avenue.
Later in the day, a minor crash was reported at South Main and East Madison Street, while another call involved a gas leak on West 13th Street around 10:30 that night.
Other activity included multiple traffic stops throughout the day, a welfare check at East 14th and North Main, and an animal problem reported on North Main Street.
Clintonville Police continue to balance routine patrols with calls for service, keeping neighborhoods and schools under watch.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wide range of calls throughout the day on Tuesday, September 30th.
Deputies took several 911 calls, including one just after three in the morning when dispatchers traced a call to Highway 45, though no emergency was located. Around the same time, deputies handled a noise complaint on Lake Drive in Shawano, where neighbors reported loud music that had been going on for hours. A short time later, a welfare check was requested for a young woman experiencing a mental health crisis. She was not harmed and deputies provided assistance.
Emergency crews also responded to a fire alarm in Wittenberg around 5:30 a.m. The homeowner confirmed it was a false alarm after resetting the system. Later that morning, deputies were called to Clintonville where a deer had been struck by a vehicle and was severely injured.
Traffic kept deputies busy as well. There were multiple reports of reckless driving, including trucks blasting horns on Airport Drive and a vehicle speeding through a campground in Birnamwood. Deputies also responded to disabled vehicles and traffic hazards on Highway 29, including a refrigerator that had fallen onto the roadway and a broken-down coach bus needing traffic control.
The sheriff’s office also assisted other law enforcement agencies. Warrants were served in Tigerton, Bonduel, and with the Langlade County Jail. Deputies also assisted Oconto County and responded to a request from Scott County, Indiana, regarding an ongoing investigation.
Other calls included stray dogs reported loose on Broadway Road, a disturbance in Shawano, and a suspicious vehicle on Frailing Road where witnesses reported occupants throwing items from a car window.
