SHAWANO, WI – The Wisconsin Deer Hunters Banquet is returning to Shawano this year, and organizers say it will be bigger than ever — with a special tribute in remembrance of 9/11.
Banquet treasurer Chuck Dallas says a free gift will be given to honor those who have served. “We had a very generous donation,” Dallas explained. “We are going to give away for free a beautiful Hawa 6.5 Creedmoor with bipod scope. It is ready to use.” The firearm was donated to recognize military veterans, active service members, firefighters, first responders, and others who dedicate their lives to serving the nation.
Along with the tribute, organizers say this year’s event will feature more attractions than ever. Ron Schmalz, with the Wisconsin Deerhunters Chapter of Shawano, says the Crawford Center will be filled wall-to-wall. “We’ll have a lot more exhibitors this year featuring equipment, tractor equipment and deer hunting blinds. We’ll have the DNR there again,” Schmalz said.
The banquet will be held Thursday, September 11th at the Crawford Center in Shawano. Attendees can expect raffles, food, exhibits, and community fellowship, all while honoring those who serve and remembering the events of 9/11.
