A dominant first half carried the Hortonville boys soccer team to a 4-0 shutout victory over Wausau West on Thursday night.
The Polar Bears wasted no time, with Roman Glad scoring three times in the opening half, including goals assisted by Elliot Vedder and Anthony Zanon. Jacob Plutz added another tally to give Hortonville all the offense it needed before the break.
In net, Grant Decker was sharp, recording two saves and earning the clean sheet as Hortonville’s defense kept Wausau West off the board.

The Amherst soccer team picked up a decisive 5-0 win over Clintonville on Thursday night, scoring twice in the first half and adding three more goals after the break.
Everet Elizalde led the Falcons with two goals, while Isaac Snyder, Ayden Kazda, and Shayden Abbott-Beversdorf each added one. Carter Ebben, Antek Zoromski-Linde, and Desmond Rooney were credited with assists.
Amherst goalkeeper Finn Brunett turned away five shots to preserve the shutout, finishing with a perfect save percentage in 80 minutes of play.
Clintonville battled to create chances but couldn’t break through offensively against Amherst’s organized defense.

Menasha took first place overall.
Manawa lost to Green Bay NEW Lutheran 2-1 and New London fell to Green Bay NEW Lutheran 2-0 and to Shiocton to that same score among the matches that took place. Shiocton defeated Green Bay East 2-0 before losing to Southern Door 2-1 and to Menasha 2-1, the Chiefs bounced back beating New London 2-0 and Manawa 2-0.
