SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano County Fair kicks off today, and fairgoers can expect to see plenty of this year’s Fairest of the Fair, Olivia Danley, as she embraces a busy year of representing the county.
Danley says her role is about more than just attending events, it’s about sharing what the fair stands for and promoting its traditions across the region. “In January, I’ll actually be competing at the state Fairest of the Fairs competition,” she said. “It’s an exciting opportunity to highlight the fair’s activities and show what this title really means.”
Throughout this week’s fair, Danley plans to be visible across the grounds, greeting guests and joining in the festivities. “Livestock shows, I’ll attend those,” she said. “Just trying to hit as many events as I can during the fair, and then the fireworks at dusk, too.”
The Shawano County Fair officially opens today with dog and cat shows and a truck and tractor pull at 6:30 p.m. in the grandstands. The fair runs through Monday with nonstop action, from livestock shows and exhibits to family entertainment and fireworks.
