NEOPIT, WI – A night of food, music, and meaningful community connection is set for tonight in Neopit as Menominee County hosts its annual National Night Out celebration.
The event runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Old Mims Building and will feature a chili cook-off, K-9 and drone demonstrations, and live music, providing a fun and interactive way for families to engage with local law enforcement.
While Shawano’s National Night Out is scheduled for next week, Shawano Police officers will be part of tonight’s festivities in a show of regional partnership. Officer Brandi Hoffman says staggering the events allows both Shawano and Menominee agencies to support one another.
“They do theirs on the August, and we’ve moved ours to the second Tuesday in August so that our officers are able to go up to Menominee’s and Menominee officers and, you know, their resources that they have as well can come down to Shawano,” Hoffman explained.
Hoffman added that these events are about more than just building relationships with kids, they’re about connecting with the entire community.
“We talk about building the relationships with the kids, but it’s also with the adults and businesses in our community because we have to have everybody working together,” she said.
National Night Out is a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening the bond between communities and the officers who serve them.
