SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano Hawks delivered a commanding performance on Saturday night, defeating Fox Valley Lutheran 54-31 to claim the WIAA Regional Championship. Behind a stellar performance from Leah Nordin, the Hawks controlled the game from start to finish, securing a decisive postseason victory. Nordin was the offensive catalyst for Shawano, pouring in 27 points on 11-of-22 shooting, including three three-pointers. She also contributed four rebounds and six steals, setting the tone on both ends of the floor. Her dominant play ensured Shawano stayed in control throughout the contest.
Supporting Nordin’s effort, Ella Stuber provided an efficient 18 points, hitting 4-of-7 from beyond the arc while adding two assists and two steals. Anna Dreier chipped in with four points, while Trinity Popelka contributed two points and four assists, helping facilitate the Hawks’ offense.
Shawano’s defense was relentless, forcing 34 turnovers from Fox Valley Lutheran while snagging 16 steals. The Hawks’ defensive pressure limited their opponent’s scoring opportunities, holding them to just 31 points on 8-of-24 shooting.
Fox Valley Lutheran’s Brianna Dahlke was the lone bright spot for the visitors, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for a double-double. However, she received little help offensively, as no other player scored more than six points for FVL.
