SHAWANO, WI- Shawano County residents have a unique opportunity to influence the direction of local health initiatives by participating in a well-being survey as part of a community health needs assessment. The survey, conducted every three years, helps health care systems and public health departments identify the most pressing needs in the community and direct resources accordingly.
The current survey, open to anyone aged 18 or older living in Shawano County, takes about 10 minutes to complete. Residents are encouraged to participate before the deadline on January 17, 2024, by visiting surveymonkey.com/r/RZDZKSB.
“The goals of this well-being survey are to identify trends in well-being and to learn how local not-for-profit hospitals, public health agencies, and other partners could make the lives of people in our communities better,” said Paula Morgen, ThedaCare’s director of community health improvement.
The survey aims to measure residents’ perceptions of their quality of life, including feelings of safety, access to social supports, and their ability to achieve physical and mental well-being. Morgen explained that these insights are vital for crafting community health strategies that address specific local needs.
In past assessments, issues such as mental health, substance abuse, early childhood needs, and social determinants like food insecurity and transportation have emerged as critical areas for improvement.
