SHAWANO, WI- On October 17, 2024, around 4:20 PM, officers from the Shawano Police Department, with support from the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, responded to an active situation at an apartment building near the intersection of S. Lafayette and W. Division Street. A resident reported that a male neighbor was banging loudly on her door and was armed with multiple firearms, including a handgun and a rifle.
After a period of negotiation, the suspect was safely taken into custody. Authorities believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the incident.
The individual now faces charges related to the events of that day. Shawano Police have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat and that the community remains safe. They also expressed gratitude to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, the Shawano Special Response Team, and the Shawano Ambulance Service for their assistance in resolving the situation.
