MILWAUKEE, WI- The New York Mets advanced to the NLDS after a dramatic 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the Wild Card Series. Pete Alonso delivered the game-winning moment, hitting a three-run homer in the ninth inning off Brewers’ All-Star closer Devin Williams. The victory sends the Mets to face their NL East rivals, the Philadelphia Phillies, in the NLDS. This marks the Mets’ first postseason series win since the 2015 NLCS.
Game 3 was a tense pitchers’ duel, with neither team scoring through the first six innings, making it one of only four postseason games in history to remain scoreless that long. Both bullpens faltered late, but the Mets emerged victorious, sealing the win and their spot in the next round.
