SHAWANO, WI- The upcoming BankFirst Division 2 National Water-ski Tournament, presented by Visit Central Florida, will bring changes to traffic and parking from August 2-4, as residents and visitors prepare for the event.
Parking options for attendees include the courthouse parking lot at North Washington and West Third streets, Kersten Accounting and Tax Professionals at 610 W. Green Bay St., and a city lot at North Washington and West Fifth streets.
Several road closures will be in effect:
- West Fifth Street: Closed to everyone except residents from North Bartlett Street west to the Wolf River, as this area will be used for ski team equipment trailers.
- West Fourth Street Cul-de-sac: Closed to street parking but accessible to homeowners. This area will be used by ski teams for personal water-ski equipment drop-offs.
- West Third Street: Closed from Riverside Drive west to the river for all except tournament officials and those with handicapped parking permits.
For those planning to use the Wolf River, a partial river closure has been approved. The river will be closed to through traffic from the trestle to the dam, with a designated slow no-wake passage on the far west side. This area will be marked with signs, a buoy line, and patrolled to ensure safety. Additionally, no wake will be permitted from the dam to the trestle, and this area will also be patrolled.
The beach will be closed during the event, with signs posted by the city of Shawano to inform the public.
