SHAWANO COUNTY, WI- On April 24, Julie Lassa, Rural Development Wisconsin state director, disclosed that the U.S. Department of Agriculture is allocating funds to 19 clean energy projects, including two in Shawano County. These endeavors aim to curtail energy expenses, bolster access to domestic biofuels, and foster job creation and market opportunities for Wisconsin farmers, small businesses, and agricultural producers. Through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), over $2.8 million in grants will be distributed, supporting initiatives such as Robert Helbach Jr.’s energy-efficient grain dryer in Wittenberg and David Blashe’s small solar electric array in Marion. These investments signify a commitment to economic growth and sustainability in rural areas.
