SHAWANO, WI-An Almon resident, barred from firearm ownership due to previous criminal convictions, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to more than 80 charges following the discovery of dozens of weapons and over 1,300 pounds of ammunition at his Shawano County residence.
Kyle Matsche, 34, faces 71 counts of felon in possession of a firearm, seven counts of possessing firearm silencers, along with two drug possession charges, and one disorderly conduct charge, stemming from a police response to his home on December 19.
No trial date has been set yet. Matsche is scheduled to appear in court on July 16 for a final pre-trial conference, according to court records.
Upon responding to a domestic disturbance call at the residence, officers found Matsche in possession of firearms lacking serial numbers, and seemingly constructed to evade traceability or registration, as detailed in the criminal complaint.
Subsequent to Matsche’s arrest, a search warrant was obtained for the premises, where law enforcement discovered an arsenal including 46 long guns, 23 handguns, 22 suppressors, body armor, a ballistic helmet, and a staggering 1,315 pounds of ammunition, alongside drug-related paraphernalia consistent with Fentanyl use.
Matsche carries prior convictions, including for THC possession and bail jumping, resulting in a three-year prison sentence.
