Lucy A. Moon, age 69, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, in Shawano. Lucy was born on April 16, 1955, at the Perrin Airforce Base in Grayson County Texas to the late Roger and LuluBelle (Stardy) Moon. Lucy entered the career of home health aide in 1978 until 2008. Helping others was her pride and joy. She raised her younger siblings, whom described her as the “D.I.” (drill instructor), Switzerland (neutral), and the glue that held the family together. Lucy was diligent and a rule follower. She enjoyed cooking, baking and instigated many family food fights. Lucy loved to spoil her nieces and nephews with gifts and wisdom. She was a proud member of the following organizations: DAV, American Legion, was the treasurer of the We Are People and member of the Vision Impaired support group of Shawano. Lucy was a descendant of the Stockbridge Brotherton Roles and was proud of her heritage. She had a strong faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Shawano Ward. Lucy will be dearly missed.
Lucy is survived by siblings, Bonnie Hauman, Carol Quaintence, Kathy (Craig) Ile, Christine Moon, Jennifer Morrison, Roger (Bonnie) Moon and Janet Weiss; nieces, Amanda Hauman, Rachel (Ben) Thomas, Sandra (Daniel) Moon, Melinda (Eric) Brandt, Victoria Weiss, Rosie (Chris) Garner, Patti Moon and Jeanette Mangione-Elbert; nephews, BJ, Kevin (Jordan) Ile, Josh (Mary) Moon and Roger (Alisha) Moon; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jadon, Thor, Riley, River, Zack, Tyler, Beckham, Macie, Daxton, Hannah, Emiley, Skylar, Hazel, Aurora, Collin, Madison, Amelia, Everly and Maria.
Lucy is preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Moon; brother, Daniel Moon; a brother and sister in infancy; and parents, Roger and LuluBelle.
A funeral service for Lucy will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday April 23, 2024, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Shawano Ward, with Bishop Duane Henning officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be held at Gresham Public Cemetery following services.
