Thomas “Tom” Gene Ludolph, age 89, of Shawano, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, April 9, 2024, at his home. Tom was born January 18, 1935, in Shawano, a son of the late George W. and Lulu (Prey) Ludolph. Tom attended the Shawano schools and graduated from Shawano High School with the Class of 1952. Following high school, he entered the United States Army. Tom was a Combat Veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1952 until 1955. On June 29, 1957, he was united in marriage to the former Gladys M. Daniel at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. The couple has lived in Shawano their entire married life. Tom was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association and the Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid sports fan and always enjoyed attending his children’s sporting events.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Ludolph of Shawano; three sons, Thomas R. Ludolph of St. Petersburg, FL, Tim M. Ludolph of De Pere, and Ted A. (Karen) Ludolph of Green Bay; six grandchildren, Jennifer Ludolph of Morgan Hill, CA, Kristin Ludolph of St Petersburg, FL, Aaron (Katie) Ludolph of De Pere, Rachael (Ross) Serena of Omaha, NE, Megan Ludolph of Asheville, NC, and Amanda (Gene) Swift of Encino, CA; brother, Gerald (Mary) Ludolph of Shawano; brotherin-law, James (Judy) Daniel of Shawano; sister-in-law, Nan Gianoli of Woodbury, MN; and special friends, Mary and Alan Johnson of California. Tom is further survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Marguerite (Mardi) Thelen, and Janet Bohm; brothers-in-law, George Daniel, Harold Daniel, Gil Daniel, and Orvis Bohm.
A memorial service for Tom will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:00 am at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Fr. Edward Looney will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and continue until the time of service. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery at a later date. The family has requested no flowers or plants be sent.
