Bonnie J. Blaser, age 89, of Shawano, formerly of Wausau, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, March 18, 2024, at Mount View Care Center in Wausau where she had been a resident for the past year. Bonnie was born October 26, 1934, in Sister Bay, WI, a daughter of the late Dr. Russel J. Driscoll D.D.S and Joyce (Smith) Driscoll. When Bonnie was eight her family moved to Gillett. She attended the Gillett Schools and graduated from Gillett High School with the Class of 1952. Following high school, she attended Marquette University and later the University of Wisconsin Steven’s Point where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. Bonnie taught school in Greenfield for several years following graduation. On June 29, 1957, she was united in marriage to James M. Blaser in Gillett, WI. In 1972 the couple moved from Greenfield, WI, to Wausau, WI. Bonnie worked as a teacher’s aide at Wausau West High School for several years. The couple then moved to Shawano in 1980. Bonnie continued as a librarian aide at Shawano Middle School. Her husband, Jim, preceded her in death on July 25, 1989. Bonnie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. She was also a member of the Town of Texas Lions Club as well as the Shawano Lions Club. She enjoyed painting, traveling, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her two sons, Randy Blaser of Shawano, and Dennis (Tracey) Blaser of Rothschild, WI; two grandchildren, Chris (Angie) Blaser of Wausau, and James Blaser of Rothschild, WI; and great grandchildren, Narisha and Kayden. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Shari Blaser, in 2022.
A Funeral Mass for Bonnie will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Fr. Edward Looney will be the Celebrant. Inurnment will be at the Wanderers Rest Cemetery in Gillett. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am at the church and continue until the time of Mass.
