Carlton Leo Begrow, age 88 of the Town of Dale, passed away peacefully and entered his eternal home on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
Carlton was born on May 24, 1935 in the Town of Dupont, the youngest of 13 children, born to the late William and Lillie (Arndt) Begrow. Carlton was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Dupont. He was raised on the family farm where he learned his strong work ethic.
On June 16, 1956 Carlton was united in marriage to Annabelle Wegener at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Falls. Anne preceded him in death on January 24, 2024. The couple resided in the Neenah area for over 30 years before building and moving to their hobby farm in the Town of Dale where they shared the last 36 years together.
When Carlton was 20 years old he moved to Neenah and started his career as a machinist at Hafemeister Machine Corporation where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 1995 to become a “fulltime” hobby farmer.
Carlton was a man who liked to keep busy. He could build and fix just about anything he put his mind to. He had a love of the land and enjoyed planting his multiple gardens, crops, and trees as well as playing around on his Kubota tractor. Carlton also loved animals and there was a variety throughout the years. As a youngster, he raised and sold rabbits to earn some of his own spending money and on the hobby farm there were beef cattle, chickens and horses.
Carlton had many hobbies throughout the years; making maple syrup, hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and especially polka dancing with his favorite partner, Anne. They could be found most Sunday afternoons at a local polka dance “kicking up their heels”.
Carlton is survived by his daughter, Debra (Gary) Weyenberg; son, Leo (Sue) Begrow; grandchildren, Delaney Weyenberg (special friend, Lukas Schutt), Tanya (Ryan) Walgenbach, Amanda Begrow, Christina (Marcus) Rue and Brandon (Jennifer) Begrow; eight great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister Jean Neubauer, sister-in-law, Gladys Begrow and brother-in-law, Duane (Shirley) Wegener, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Carlton was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Annabelle; his parents; granddaughter, Miranda Weyenberg; siblings, Irma (Lloyd) Bestul, Dorothy (Albert) Wudstrack, Adeline (Ervin) Pockat, Bernice (Eddie) Pockat, Rose (Stanley) Carlson, Ruth (Carl) Miller, Glen (Bernice) Begrow, Margaret (Rueben) Krueger, August Begrow, Ervie (Harold) Nollenberg, and William (Sigrid) Begrow.
The Christian Funeral for Carlton will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Pastor William Heiges officiating. The visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Town of Dale at a later date.

Our family wishes to thank the staff at Monarch Meadows Assisted Living in New London for the compassionate care given to Dad.
The Lord created fathers to be a living, breathing display of who He is: a protector, provider, and leader. You were all those things for us, so as we celebrate you, we are grateful for all that you have given and taught us. We thank God that He chose you to be our father and grandfather.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished
the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is
in store for me the crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award
to me on that day, and not only to me, but
also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8
