Duane A. Brauer, age 80, formerly of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at his home in Green Bay, following a valiant battle with cancer. Duane was born July 23, 1943, in Shawano, a son of the late Elmer A. and Elizabeth J. (Chrystal) Brauer. He attended the Shawano Schools, later graduating from Shawano High School with the Class of 1961. Following high school, he relocated to Green Bay to work. While living in Green Bay he met his future wife, Marilyn Chopin. The couple was united in marriage on May 12, 1972, in Green Bay. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Green Bay their entire married life. His wife, Marilyn, passed away on August 7, 2014. Duane loved his family. He was quick witted, funny, and always a hard worker. Duane enjoyed watching sports, especially the Milwaukee Brewers. He was a cat lover who enjoyed shooting pool, archery, horseshoes, and working outside.
Survivors include his three children, Jennifer (Kevin) Furcho, Jodi (Matt) Brauer, and Timothy Brauer; four grandchildren, Robin, Katie, Amber, and Matt; and several great grandchildren. He is further survived by six siblings and several nieces and nephews.
A public visitation for Duane Brauer will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 4:00 pm and continue until 6:00 pm at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Inurnment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
