Nicholas H. “Nic” Tholl, age 73 of Port Washington, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly in Shawano on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Nic was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on January 5, 1951, a son of Edward and Ann Marie (Skeris) Tholl. He attended school in Port Washington, graduating with the Class of 1969. While in high school Nic played football and ran track. Following graduation, Nic entered the U.S. Air Force where he served in Okinawa and Vietnam from November 27, 1970, until April 23, 1974. Upon returning from service, Nic went to work for We Energies at the Port Washington Power Plant. He also worked in construction and was a member of Laborers Local 113. In 1988 Nic and his brother, Eddie, went to Yellowstone National Park in Montana to assist in fighting the wildfires. They were part of the largest fire fighting effort in the U.S. at the time. Nic’s hobbies included photography, painting, and playing the guitar and violin. He was an animal lover and rescued numerous pets in order to give them a forever home. Nic was enthusiastic about anything Italian. He loved the food, the clothing, everything!
Survivors include his sister, Jennifer Greiert of Shawano; his brother, Richard (Debra) Rollin of Shawano; four nieces, Rachel (Nicholas) Bleser of Shawano, Rosalind (Christopher Marks) Greiert of Madison, WI, Angelica Rollin of Shawano, and Carmella Gallegos of Shawano; two great nieces and two great nephews; and his brother-in-law, John Greiert of Clintonville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Edward Tholl, and an infant brother, John Tholl.
A funeral service for Nic will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 1:30 pm at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Fr. Edward Looney will officiate. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm on Thursday and continue until the time of service. Shawano AmVets Post #10 will conduct military honors at the funeral home. Interment will take place on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Port Washington.
