GRESHAM, WI- Speculation ran rampant in Gresham when multiple law enforcement vehicles were spotted in the village on February 27, causing some parents to hastily withdraw their children from school under the mistaken belief that the police presence was linked to Gresham Community School.
Superintendent Newell Haffner clarified in a phone interview on February 28 that there was no threat against the school, and classes proceeded without any issues. Haffner became aware of the rumors when a concerned parent contacted the school, intending to pull her child out based on information from a Snapchat post referencing a supposed threat against the school.
Further investigation revealed that the incident in Gresham involved an individual with a firearm, as reported in a press release from the Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department. The person was taken into custody, with no additional details disclosed, though officials assured the community that it was safe.
