Annabelle (Ann) Virginia Begrow, age 86 of the Town of Dale, passed away and went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Ann was born on October 7, 1937 in the Township of Lebanon, the daughter of the late Henry and Ruby (Larson) Wegener. She was raised on the family’s farms near Bear Creek and then Big Falls area. It was while she was attending the Little Falls “Free Show” with her teenage friends, that Ann met her future husband, Carlton. On June 16, 1956 Ann and Carlton were united in marriage at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Big Falls. The couple lived and raised their family in the Neenah area for over 30 years before building and moving to their hobby farm in the Town of Dale, where they shared the last 36 years together. Ann worked for a few different employers in the Fox Valley area, including over 15 years at Zwicker Knitting Mill and lastly retiring from Plexus in Neenah. After retirement, Ann enjoyed time volunteering in the Emanuel Lutheran School Library, as well as reading to the school’s pre-k children. Ann suffered from Alzheimers over the past few years, but was very active prior to the disease. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, canning the produce, making maple syrup and helping with all the animals on the hobby farm. Ann was a wonderful cook and baker, especially sharing her Norwegian heritage, making lefsa, rosettes and krumkake. Mostly Ann enjoyed Polka dancing with her favorite partner, Carlton. They could be found on most Sunday afternoons “kicking up their heels” at a Wisconsin Polka dance. Ann was a devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, but most important was a child of God and she had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior until her final days. Thank you Lee Shaw and Pastor Heiges for your many home visits and serving of the Lord’s Supper.
Ann is survived by her best friend and husband of 67 years, Carlton; daughter, Debra (Gary) Weyenberg; son, Leo (Sue) Begrow; grandchildren, Delaney Weyenberg (special friend, Lukas Schutt), Tanya (Ryan) Walgenbach, Amanda Begrow, Christina (Marcus) Rue and Brandon (Jennifer) Begrow; eight great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Duane (Shirley) Wegener, in-laws, Jean Neubauer, William Begrow and Gladys Begrow, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Miranda Weyenberg and brothers, Norman and Eugene Wagner.
The Christian Funeral for Ann will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London. The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Town of Dale at a later date.
