Kathleen M. “Kathy” Senzig, age 81 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 3, 2024, at ThedaCare in Shawano. Kathy was born in Bear Creek, Wisconsin, on April 21, 1942, to the late Christian
and Angarose (Wilfuhr) Peeters. On October 7, 1961, she was united in marriage to Jerry J. Senzig in Bear Creek. They were blessed with three sons, Gregory, Todd, and Troy. The couple made their home in Shawano, enjoying time in Red River and eventually building their dream home on the channel in town. Kathy is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano and when her boys were young, she volunteered for Christian Mothers (CCW). After many years, she retired in 2000 from Midwest Breeder (Genex), and she and Jerry also sold the family business to their son Todd. Kathy and Jerry wintered in Arizona, but always returned home for family holidays and in the summer to enjoy their children and grandchildren. The family spent time in the Northwoods at cabins in Conover, Crandon and Rhinelander, where they enjoyed fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and bowling. Reflecting on Kathy’s life, she centered everything around her family. She was always cheering Jerry, the boys, and grandchildren on during sporting and school events. She enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters, as well as their families. She also made many friendships along her journey which she greatly cherished. Kathy was a humble, dear heart, and gentle person who lived life selflessly. She always had a smile on her face, eager to help others with any sort of project or kitchen task. She had a green thumb and loved her flower gardens. There wasn’t much she couldn’t do and was a true example of how to live life. Kathy’s unconditional love and support could always be found in one of many places – by your side, cheering you on, guiding you when you were lost, picking you up if you fell, and celebrating life’s blessings.
Left to cherish Kathy’s memory are: her sons, Todd (Wendy) and their daughters Maria (Adam Nelson) and Allison (Connor Heise); Troy and his children, Connor and Katelin (fiancé Shane Kuhn); daughter-in-law, Trini and her children, Samantha (Dillon) Sperberg and Johnathan (Andrea) Schneider. She was blessed with great-grandchildren, Stetson Sperberg, Harrison Schneider, and another on the way. She is further survived by her brother, Charles (Laurie) Peeters; sister, Mary Diemel; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Peeters; numerous nieces and nephews; and her precious furry friend, Max.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; son, Gregory; brothers, Robert (Betty) Peeters and William Peeters; her sister, Patricia (David) Pues; brother-in-law, Haze Diemel; mother and father-in-law, Florence and Willard Senzig; sister-in-law Jan (Doug) Maltbey; niece Kelly Maltbey-Collins; nephew Jeffrey Pues.
