SHAWANO, WI- Kyle Matsche, a 34-year-old resident of Almon with a history of criminal convictions prohibiting gun ownership, now faces over 80 charges following a police raid on his Shawano County home. Responding to a domestic disturbance call on December 19, officers discovered an alarming cache of weapons and ammunition, leading to Matsche’s arrest.
Matsche is charged with 71 counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, seven counts of possessing a firearm silencer, two drug possession counts, and one disorderly conduct charge. He is currently held on a $750,000 cash bond, with a scheduled return to court on January 30 for a status conference.
The criminal complaint reveals the search uncovered a significant arsenal, including 46 long guns, 23 handguns, 22 suppressors, body armor, a ballistic helmet, and a staggering 1,315 pounds of ammunition. Additionally, drug-related items consistent with Fentanyl use were found, adding to the charges. Witnesses informed police that Matsche engaged in building guns as a hobby.
Matsche’s prior convictions, including possession of THC and bail jumping, resulted in a three-year prison term. The recent charges further underscore the potential dangers posed by individuals with criminal histories gaining access to firearms.
